On Wednesday 5th July, 2023, ANA Benue EXCO and Members led by Onwanyi Ulegede, Esq paid an advocacy visit to the Benue State Ministry of Education at the State Secretariate. The Permanent Secretary during the visit, praised the Association’s committment to improving the reading culture in the State via its campaigns and promised to support their programmes. The Chair, Onwanyi Ulegede had earlier sought the Ministry's permission to roll out it's Adopt a Community School Reading and Library Project and the Yusuf Ali Reading Campaign, an annual grant which the Association has been a beneficiary since its inception. During the visit, a former Chairman of ANA Benue, Mr Paul Ugah, advocated for exams to be set from books written by local authors and recommended for use by the Ministry as this would encourage the book industry in rhe State. The Assistant Secretary, Queen Obekpa corroborated this fact and suggested that the issue of having two syllabuses in the same subject should be addressed. The Ministry promised to do so. The Permanent Secretary further advised that we tale our advocacy to the State Exam Board as well. Mr. Anihor, an ANA member and other Directors were present at the meeting.
